A listed chemical company imported products from India. They paid the normal rate of import duties as their Indian exporter did not prove the Indian preferential origin. The company reached out to us to check whether the products were of preferential origin India and if they could recover the excessive paid import duties form the Belgian customs authorities.
We started by analysing whether the preferential origin India could be invoked. We also contacted our colleagues from BDO India for their assistance with the application process of the Registered Exporter authorisation of the Indian supplier.
The preferential origin India was applicable, and the company recovered their excessive paid import duties for the last two years. With our pragmatic approach and access to the international BDO network, we managed to help our client in a very efficient way.
