Bert Gijsels

Bert Gijsels is a Partner at BDO Belgium, specialising in Accountancy for the Public Sector and Healthcare industry. With 24 years of experience at BDO, he leads the public sector team and advises mainly local authorities, including elder care and home care services, on financial analysis, budgeting, and multi-year planning. Bert works closely with financial and general directors to deliver these insights.

He has a strong focus on policy and management cycles, delivering courses on these topics through BDO and financial director organisations, as well as serving as a guest lecturer at the Antwerp Management School (AMS). Beyond the public sector, Bert is active in the not-for-profit and non-profit sectors, providing financial expertise to nursing homes and cultural centres.

Within BDO, Bert is also a member of the Global Public Sector & Healthcare working group, contributing his extensive knowledge and experience to the team.
