Sam Nelen

Sam Nelen joined BDO in 2015 and currently serves as a Partner within the Risk Advisory team. He specialises in providing cyber security advisory services and guidance to a range of Belgian companies. 

With 10 years of experience in the field, Sam has developed expertise in information security strategy, IT risk assessments, threat modelling, IT architecture, network security, and application security and governance. He has supported multiple financial institutions and possesses an in-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks such as DORA and NIS2. 

Sam's extensive knowledge of industry best practices, emerging threats, and effective information security measures enables him to provide strategic guidance and hands-on advice to organisations. His comprehensive approach ensures clients can navigate the complexities of cyber security, enhancing their resilience against potential threats. 

In addition to his advisory role, Sam has significantly contributed to BDO by helping establish the Cyber Security service line. Over the past years, he has performed numerous cyber security assessments, phishing simulations, and vulnerability scans.
