Wim Verbelen

Wim Verbelen has been working at BDO Belgium since 2006, where he began his career in financial auditing. After seven years, he transferred internally to the Risk Advisory Services (RAS) department. As the person responsible for internal audit services in Belgium, Wim is also an active member of the international working group for Internal Audit within the BDO network.  

Wim is an expert in setting up, managing and optimising internal control systems (including SOx) and conducting assurance and advisory audits. Wim also has experience in providing ISAE3402 attestation services. He has extensive experience in conducting compliance audits and forensic audits, including fraud investigation and prevention. In addition, he is skilled in conducting advanced data analysis and providing forensic expertise. 

His industry expertise includes in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector, including experience with pension funds, insurance companies and real estate companies, and he is also experienced in the services, manufacturing and public sectors. Wim is certified as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) by the Institute of Internal Auditors, a Registered Fraud Auditor (RFA) by the Institute of Fraud Auditors, and a Certified ISO31000 Risk Manager by PECB.
