A few years ago, BDO Belgium embarked on an important journey, one that will help our company transition to a new and more sustainable business model. To help us chart that journey and keep all our fellow travelers well informed on the progress we’re making, we decided to publish a yearly sustainability report.
The first edition of the report was published in 2021, and the second edition served as a kind of preparatory exercise for the then-upcoming European non-financial reporting laws and frameworks, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
As with the first two reports, this year’s edition – covering the fiscal year 2023 – looks at sustainability through the lens of the universally accepted ESG reporting framework. This means that we don’t limit ourselves to the environment (E) alone. Instead we pay close attention to all three of the ESG pillars, including social (S) and governance (G).
For each of these three pillars, we have put in place a targeted plan, including actions such as:
- shifting our fleet and mobility strategy toward electric vehicles and alternative mobility solutions (E);
- offering extensive learning opportunities to our colleagues (S);
- achieving ISO 27001 certification to ensure optimal data and cybersecurity (G).
You’ll find many more exciting new initiatives like these in our 2023 Sustainability Report, which you can download here.
