Challenges
Acquisitions in different countries resulted in a decentralisation of financial processes and tools. As a result, a lot of time was lost in manually consolidating data for group-level reporting.
The finance department needed to centralise everything into one process, supported by an appropriate digital solution. This new solution needed to be able to support reporting in any country while enabling automatic consultation at group level. There was a clear sense of urgency: the previous accounting software was no longer adequate to support international growth, and too much valuable time was being wasted.

BDO’s approach & solutions
The IT manager at Group-GTS said they were looking for a new financial ERP to future-proof their organisation. The implementation project started with an analysis of the current way of working within the finance department.
BDO suggested Oracle NetSuite as preferred financial ERP/cloud platform, specifically because it contains standard modules for internationally growing companies that need to meet local requirements in different countries. BDO’s multidisciplinary team of Digital, Tax, and Finance experts provided an integrated solution for Group-GTS’ finance & IT team.
Thanks to close client contact and frequent on-site presence with the GTS team, BDO was able to provide hands-on and pragmatic guidance during the first months after the go live of NetSuite. An important aspect was BDO’s industry experience with industry peers such as Ewals Cargo Care.

Results & impact
In January 2025, Group-GTS went live with their new financial ERP system for the Belgian and German entities, with plans for further roll-out to other countries. Everything is already in place for integration with the TMS system.
By simplifying, centralising, and automating the processes, Group-GTS can now work more efficiently across countries. The reporting can be automatically viewed at any level, giving finance department staff more time for analysis.
