A legacy of innovation
DAP’s roots trace back to 1948, when Christophe’s grandfather founded the brokerage firm in Wallonia. The family business evolved over the decades, adapting to changing markets and new technologies. In 1982, Christophe’s father Bernard joined the firm, aiming to drive digital transformation, which eventually led to his independent venture. He later returned to acquire his father’s client portfolio, setting the foundation for today’s DAP. New partnerships and mergers were formed, allowing all employees to become shareholders, creating a participative structure.
A social entrepreneur’s vision
For Christophe, leading DAP is about more than just insurance: “I want to see projects with social, human and environmental dimensions that benefit the greatest number”. With a background in non-profits and startups, he initially resisted joining the insurance sector. But in 2018, he took on the role of managing DAP’s Brussels office and serving as the group’s operational director.
Over the past few years, DAP has rebranded itself as a ‘social broker’, by leading innovative projects like DAP Solidarity, which allows clients to donate 10% of their premiums to partner charities. The initiative reflects a broader ambition to reduce societal inequalities, blending traditional insurance with a strong social commitment. A unique stance in the financial world.
Building long-lasting relationships
At DAP, the focus is on cultivating long-term relationships rather than short-term gains. The company offers personalised services to its diverse client base, from fully digital solutions to hands-on support. “We aim for relationships that last for years, not just a quick transaction,” says Christophe.
And to offer quality service, DAP makes sure to invest in its employees’ well-being with team-buildings, trainings and health initiatives. For Christophe, satisfied clients and a motivated team are essential to sustainable growth.
Social Responsibility & growth
As Belgium’s first ‘solidarity insurer’, DAP dedicates around € 200,000 each year to charitable causes and social protections, as well as support a wide range of social projects, from children’s hospitals to environmental initiatives.
DAP’s success as a social insurer is reflected in its growth and appeal to new talent. The company’s flat structure fosters trust and teamwork, eliminating the need for middle management. By focusing on humanity, the company resonates with both employees and clients, ensuring that DAP continues to thrive in a rapidly changing market.
